Professional Training as a Family Celebrant

trained by IIOC

Jan 2021 - June 2022

At Leigh-Anne's Psychotherapy and Counselling you will find a warm reception, a sensitive approach and a practice upholding ethical standards. I endeavour always to offer a high level of client satisfaction & will do everything I can to meet your needs. Leigh-Anne has over 20 years of experience working in this field of therapy.

Approaches used in therapy:

I work primarily from a Person-Centred approach, and find Emotion-Focused Therapy very useful to my clients. I also apply Existential Therapy from time to time and find Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) really helpful. I often make use of Psychodynamic Therapy to formulate the needs for therapy. When suitable I can use Schema Therapy.

Referrals:

Where I am not able to help due to specialisation, I will be able to give a referral to a suitable service according to the needs of the client.

Together with my clients I will explore and examine pertinent issues in an attempt to help my clients move forward in their lives.

Research to date:

Reuniting homeless children with their nuclear families.

Life Satisfaction and Self-Esteem of married couples.

Doctoral Research:

Research focussed on the impact of social media on aspects of the self in adolescents. The focus of the research was on how the developing self in adolescence is reflected and influenced by selfying (selfie-taking)
